Sheriff Randy Tolar said the shooting happened about 6 p.m. at a residence on Mississippi Highway 4 East. The woman was transported to NMMC Tupelo where she was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff declined to identify the victim, a woman in her 60s, or the female suspect, about age 40, who has been taken into custody.
The case remains under investigation by the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office.
