The Monroe County Board of Education approved issuing a 3 mill/10-year note for the purchase of the buses. The 2009 International buses will cost $71,700 each.
The district also will sell eight or 10 of its old buses.
The 3-mill note is a levy that will be renewed and run for the next 10 years. The district used this note to purchase school buses in 2000 and the last payment on this particular note will be July 2010.
