RIPLEY - Charles Edward Hudson, 28, of Benton County, who escaped from custody at the Tippah County Jail on May 28, was still out of police custody on Thursday.

Hudson was being held on a felony cyberstalking indictment and several misdemeanor warrants.

Hudson was being returned from the Tippah County Hospital and was in the sally port section of the Tippah County Detention Center when he allegedly pushed Deputy Dewayne Crenshaw to the ground and ran away about 7:30 p.m.

Sheriff Karl Gaillard said Hudson is considered a nonviolent. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches and 165 pounds, with tattoos on his arms.

Gaillard said now Hudson faces charges of escape and assault on a law enforcement officer.
