Copies of old photographs are being sought by a group that is putting together a pictorial history of Lee County. The public is asked to take old photographs for scanning on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lee County Library. Pictures will be given back to their owners as soon as the images are scanned. Members of the group are Boyd Yarbrough, Mem Leake, Bill Lyle, David Baker, Dick Hill and Julian Riley.
n Northeast Mississippi Down Syndrome Society and Civitan International are working together to raise funds to place a Civitan Emerging Scholar at the Civitan International Research Center to study Down Syndrome.
A Wheel-a-thon will be held Saturday at the Tupelo High School track. Registration is $20 per wheeler (individual on people-powered wheels, such as a bicycle, wheelchairs, etc.) or per wheel team (one rider and one pusher, puller or peddler). Each wheeler or wheel team can also solicit per lap sponsorships. Registration will be from 7:28 to 8:28 a.m. The laps will take place from 8:33 to 9:33 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the wheeler and wheel team doing the most laps and to the wheeler or wheel team that raises the most money.
