TUPELO – Fairpark will be alive with the sounds of blues, bluegrass and jazz this summer.

The performers for this summer’s Down on Main concert series were announced on Monday, and the lineup reflects a mix of sounds.

“Last year we focused on laid-back music, but this year we’re making things more diverse,” said Chris Root, one of the original committee members for the series.

The first concert, on July 8, will feature Memphis rock band John Paul Keith & the 145s opening for blues band Hill Country Revue.

Hill Country Revue is a side project of Chris Chew and Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars.

Performing on Aug. 12 is Sardis singer-songwriter Sanders Bohlke and bluegrass group The Infamous Stringdusters.

The final show is Sept. 9, with Nashville’s Moon Taxi opening up for the New Orleans jazz band Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Another music event, sponsored by Cellular South, will take place before the Sept. 9 event, but details have not been worked out yet.

At all three concerts, there will also be an Artists’ Alley, where artists can show and sell their work.
