Rumors have circulated in the community that arson was suspected, said Chief Deputy Roy Shappley, who also is the county fire investigator. Shappley said he didn’t receive a call to go to the scene of the fire to conduct an investigation. When he got a call late Thursday asking about the incident, Shappley said he had no information about the incident.
A house fire at a residence on Tippah County Road 600 was reported about 5 a.m. Thursday, according to news reports, and no one was injured in the fire that caused severe damage.
