The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the one-car wreck at 12:03 p.m., at milemarker 48 on U.S. Highway 78 near Hickory Flat.
According to Patrolman Ray Hall, it appeared Walter W. Brewer, 32, of Red Bay, Ala., was traveling eastbound in a 2007 Chevrolet Impala when he lost control of his vehicle and ran off the right side of the highway.
Brewer’s vehicle then collided into a creek bank. He was transported to Union County Regional Hospital in New Albany where he later died from his injuries.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
