Aberdeen man dies in early Sunday morning accident

ABERDEEN — According TFC Brian C. Mobley, Public Affairs Officer for the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop G District 5 in Starkville, an early Sunday morning crash claimed the life of an Aberdeen man.

"A one vehicle crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning on Highway 8 in Monroe County East of Highway 25 North," Mobley said. "The vehicle involved was a White 2000 Volvo Tractor Trailer. The Volvo was driven by Michael Neece, a 44 year old male from Albertville, Alabama. The vehicle was traveling West on Highway 8. "

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley said the deceased was Kennedy Lloyd, Jr. of 50262 Old Columbus Road, Aberdeen. The deceased man was walking near his home.

"The accident occurred less than a mile from his residence," Gurley said. "He was struck by an 18 wheeler that was traveling west on highway 8. Mr. Lloyd was dead at the scene. An autopsy will be conducted Monday at State Medical Examiner’s office in Jackson."

Gurley added: "The driver of the 18 wheeler is from Alabama and was not injured in the accident."

The crash is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Mobley said.
