COLUMBUS - Mississippi University for Women's presidential search won't begin until early next year.

Dr. Hank Bounds, commissioner of higher education, said Monday two other searches will begin first - at Alcorn State University in late August and Jackson State University in early September.

Applications for those two jobs will be taken until Sept. 15.

As with other recent searches, the process will begin with campus "listening sessions" where 10 different constituency groups will explain what they want in their next leaders.

The MUW post, vacated in June by the retirement of Dr. Claudia Limbert, is filled in the interim by MUW alumna and businesswoman Allegra Brigham of Columbus.
