Austin Krosp, 16, was a freshman at the school. He was injured Monday night in a two-vehicle accident on County Road 1498 in the Auburn community. He died at the North Mississippi Medical Center early Tuesday morning.
“He was a very intelligent young man,” said Mooreville High School Principal Craig Cherry, who was also the principal at Mooreville Middle School when Austin was a student there.
“He could have achieved anything in life that he wanted to. It is very sad that this occurred, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
According to Austin’s obituary, he loved to hunt, ride four-wheelers and just hang out with his friends.
Cherry said the teen had many friends at the school, which had additional counselors and church personnel in its library on Wednesday to help grieving students.
Austin played on Mooreville’s junior high football team, although he was not playing this year.
“He was a good kid,” Cherry said. “The perspective right now is that we’re just stunned about this whole thing.”
Funeral services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel. Burial will be at Keyes Cemetery in Dorsey.
