TUPELO – The Lee County Board of Supervisors has ordered a burn ban for the county.

Citing the dry conditions, the board said the ban would be in effect until Oct. 29.

Earlier this week, Pontotoc County put a burn ban into effect, also until Oct. 29. Outdoor fires have been banned in Chickasaw and Monroe Counties until Oct. 31, and in Clay County until Nov. 1.

Lafayette County supervisors expect to issue a burn ban on Monday.
