BOONEVILLE — The executive director of the Booneville Chamber of Commerce has resigned on the heels of a loss of funding from the city.

The Daily Corinthian reports that Rhonda Greening announced her resignation on Tuesday in a letter to the chamber's board of directors.

Greening said she felt that after the loss of city funding to the chamber her salary would be too much of a strain on the organization's budget.

Greening had served as executive director of the chamber since 2006.

The city had been providing about $45,000 a year to the chamber of commerce.

Mayor Joe Eaton says the city will continue providing free office space and utilities.
