ABERDEEN – A March 4 trial date is set for a former Ecru policeman charged with making illegal stops in 2008.

U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock continued court action against Jody Mac Rock, who was due for trial Oct. 29.

Rock, 35, was indicted May 22 on two counts that as a police officer he stopped two people in separate actions and allegedly demanded cash in lieu of a traffic ticket.

The charge accuses him of violating their civil rights against illegal searches and seizures under color of law.

He pleaded not guilty on June 11.
