JACKSON – Gov. Phil Bryant and legislative leaders, upon the advice of the state's financial experts, today adopted a "conservative" revenue estimate for the Legislature to use to fund state government during the 2013 session.

The Budget Committee and Bryant set the revenue estimate for the upcoming fiscal year at $5.02 billion, an increase of 1.6 percent over the estimate for the current year.

During the same meeting, the Budget Committee also increased the estimate for the current year by $118 million. While the estimate was viewed as conservative, still legislators will have a projected $270 million more to appropriate in 2013 than it did in the 2012 session.
