Stringer beats French Camp 20-17 for 1A title

JACKSON — Tevin Moore scored on a 19-yard run with 2:11 remaining in the fourth quarter to lead Stringer past French Camp 20-17 for its first MHSAA Class 1A state championship since 1992 and fourth in school history.

Moore also scored on a 51-yard run in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 222 rushing yards on 29 carries.

Cade Hinton booted field goals from 28 and 30 yards for the Red Devils (13-2).

Stringer's Mason Avary intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter to stop a French Camp drive and secure the victory. French Camp had four turnovers — including three fumbles.

Jaylon Clemens and Jesse Hosket each had touchdown runs for French Camp. Clemens led the Panthers (11-3) with 19 carries for 208 yards.
