Shockley’s is an old-fashioned diner. It serves breakfast all day and has a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday.
Customers are regulars at Shockley’s, coming in every morning to read the newspaper and get unlimited coffee refills.
“In a small restaurant like this, so many of my customers become like family,” Kelly said. “They have their regular booth. You usually know what they’re going to eat.”
The most popular items are pancakes, which come plain or with additions such as chocolate chips, blueberries and strawberries. The restaurant also focuses on omelets, old-fashioned grits, homemade biscuits and country ham.
For lunch, popular items are meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing, roast, hamburger steak and salmon patties.
“All that good, old-fashioned stuff,” Kelly said.
The restaurant also is growing its catering business at manufacturing facilities in the region.
