Senator Roger Wicker(C. Todd Sherman)
The panel is part of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.
Wicker says the subcommittee has jurisdiction over communications matters, including the Internet, cable, satellite and broadcast television, telephones, cellphones and wireless broadband.
Wicker is the second ranking Republican on the Commerce Committee.
Wicker says in a news release that he wants to work on ensuring quality broadband access to all corners of America, particularly in rural areas.
