OXFORD – Richard F. "Dickie" Scruggs, once one of America's most famous litigators, is home for the first time in more than four years.

Scruggs, 66, was released on $2 million bond Monday from a federal prison facility in Montgomery, Ala., where he's been held for his guilty plea to the 2007 conspiracy to bribe Circuit Judge Henry Lackey of Calhoun City.

He entered prison in 2008.

His son, Zach, who's working in Florida, confirmed his father's release, saying "he's at home with his family" in Oxford.

His release came by the court while a second conviction is pending before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
