OXFORD – Former Lafayette County narcotics squad leader Searn Lynch has a new trial date in federal court.

Late Thursday, a federal judge moved his May 11 date to April 15 to face an indictment accusing him of seeking painkillers by wrongly going to multiple doctors.

Lynch pleaded not guilty a few weeks ago.

He also is charged with carrying a firearm while he allegedly committed the crime.

Senior U.S. District Judge Neal B. Biggers presides over the case.
