Blue Mountain’s men stun No. 25 Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Blue Mountain College men stunned No. 25-ranked Bethel 81-78 Thursday night to open the TSAC tournament.

The sixth-seeded Toppers (9-20), winless in the TSAC regular season, hit 16 of their 18 free throws in the final six minutes to upset the Wildcats (24-7).

BMC’s DeVante Pulliam led all scorers with 21 points, including 12 in the final nine minutes of the game. The junior forward made 7 of 12 field goals and hit 7 of 8 free throws.

Four other toppers were in double figures: Shane Butler15, Jarvis Fisher 12 and Akeem Caddell and Vladimir Filipovic 10 each.

The Toppers trailed 39-28 at halftime but went ahead to stay on a Butler jumper with 11:43 left.

BMC now travels to Marietta, Ga., on Saturday night to take on No. 2 seed Life University (17-12).
