According to the Lee County Sheriff's Department, police responded to the scene at 5:49 p.m. and Richard Allen Darby, 50, of Tupelo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said a preliminary investigation shows Darby appears to have crashed his car and ran off into a ditch. When police arrived they found him laying in Graham Road not far from his vehicle.
The incident occurred just south of the intersection with Mitchell Road.
