The Sun Herald reports Hector Leonardo Ramirez-Lopez will be turned over for deportation to Mexico after his prison term is over. He received the maximum penalty on a guilty plea to interstate travel in aid of drug racketeering enterprises.
Ramirez-Lopez was using a fictitious name when he and an acquaintance came to Gulfport on commercial flights in May. His acquaintance was under surveillance by federal drug agents who received a tip about a man coming to Gulfport to coordinate a meth delivery.
Both men were arrested May 3 outside a hotel on U.S. 49.
