The Champions of Change program was created as a part of President Obama's Winning the Future initiative. Each week, the White House features a group of Americans — individuals, businesses and organizations — who are doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.
Parker is director of Citizens for a Better Greenville and has a degree in criminal justice.
She has been involved in the Prevention of Schoolhouse to Jailhouse Coalition. The coalition has challenged schools' zero tolerance policies and worked to a decrease the number of students suspended or expelled and the number of students sent to detention centers.
