At the Tupelo Coliseum Commission's board meeting today architects unveiled drawings for a performing arts center for the BancorpSouth Arena campus.

The renderings were presented on easels. The designs presented aren’t complete. Scott Reed, commission chairman, said the point was to get the conversation started.

The designs call for building a 2,000-seat entertainment venue on the east side of the arena at a cost of $15 to $20 million.

No funding has been arranged for the commission’s project.

This "build it and they will come" approach will not result in any significant increase in the number/quality of bands that will come and play in Tupelo, period.

The venue is WAY down the list of reasons Tupelo doesn't/can't attract more significant acts.

Just another waste of taxpayer money at a time when we can least afford it.

Well that looks nice, if it is built maybe it would bring some better bands to the area.
