MICHIGAN CITY - Raymond Clinton Stacks, 83, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was a Methodist and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was the owner of Stacks Construction Company, a farmer and cattleman. He was one of the original founders of Benchcraft Inc. in Blue Mountain. In his early years he enjoyed basketball, tennis, fishing and hunting.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Tippah Memorial Garden.
He is survived by his wife, Vada Hamm Stacks of Michigan City; one daughter, Rita Stacks Peggs (Steve) of Germantown; one son, C.R. amp"Connieamp" Stacks (Denise) of Olive Branch; six grandchildren, Jessica Stacks, Benton Stacks, Tyler Peggs, David Peggs, Melanie Peggs and Josh Roper (Ashley); and one great-grandchild, Jackson Thomas Roper.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joe C. Stacks; his parents, Jewel G. and Jettie Hopkins Stacks; one brother, Arlon Stacks; and one grandchild, Macy Peggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a church or organization of donor's choice.

NEW ALBANY - Dessie Lee Allred, 97, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in New Albany. She was born June 14, 1914, in Union County to George W. and Minnie James Sanford. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing and collecting owls. She loved her family and friends and never met a stranger.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at United Funeral Service with Rev. Vic Garrison and Rev. Rank Boyte officiating. Burial will be in Glenfield Memorial Park. United Funeral Service of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by three daughters, Margie Adair, Joyce Peters (Ricky) and Ruth Russell; five sons, Benny Allred (Louise), Bobby Allred, David Allred (Reta), Danny Allred (Sheila) and Randy Allred (Pam); 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Hugh T. Allred; two sons, Hulon Allred and Larry Allred; a sister, Margaret Sanford; and two brothers, Eric Sanford and Rudolph Sanford.

TUPELO - Nancy Ruth Landreth Maynard, 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo after an extended illness. She was born in Morehead on March 10, 1943, to Walter Edward and Maggie Mae Lyles Johnson. She moved to Tupelo from Jackson in 1973. She was employed for many years by Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance until her retirement five years ago. Mrs. Maynard lived a full and simple life. She married Joseph D. "Danny" Maynard on Nov. 2, 2003. She loved to travel, and in the past few years, she and her husband traveled to every state, except Hawaii, and most national parks in their RV. Her most cherished time was that spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir. She was an avid Mississippi State fan. She loved working in her yard, feeding and watching birds of all kinds, laughing and enjoying life.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Bro. David Langerfeld officiating. Private burial will be at Poplar Springs Cemetery near Vardaman. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors and from 1 p.m. to service time Thursday at the church. Holland Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph D. "Danny" Maynard of Tupelo; four children, Lisa Hensley (Steve), Linwood Landreth (Sandy), Stephanie Gregory (Ryan) and Jon Maynard (Miranda), all of Tupelo; 10 grandchildren, Larkin and Jennifer Landreth, Nicole and Wesley Hazel, Michael Hensley, Liza Kate, Emma and Evan Gregory, and Mary-Evelyn and Georgia-Kate Maynard, all of Tupelo; one great-grandchild, Chloe McElhenney of Tupelo; and a brother, Edward Johnson of Calhoun City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 35 years, Bruce H. Landreth.

NETTLETON - Larry Merle Presley, 60, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his brother's home in Nettleton after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Nettleton, he was born May 11, 1951, in Lee County to Merle Edward and Rousie Ree Sullivan Presley. He was a painter and a Pentecostal. An avid Ole Miss fan, he enjoyed going fishing and being with his grandchildren.
