Oh yes, we have to wait until Friday before the State Basketball Tournament begins in Jackson.
And under the proposed format for next year, a pair of classes will have to wait more than a week, again.
Even going back to the old format of just a couple of years ago with five classifications and three teams from each half qualifying, there was the potential of a No. 1 seed waiting 12 days to play its first game of the tournament.
Just ask the 1995 Shannon Red Raiders how much fun that wait can be!
