THS director of athletics, Danny Porter, said the interview process should begin early next month. They hope to have a coach named by the middle of the month.
“That’s just a guessing timeline,” Porter said.
Porter said six applicants were interviews prior to Pate’s hiring four years ago.
Tupelo reached the Class 6A state championship game March 3, but lost to Jackson Jim Hill in overtime.
Pate replaced former ICC coach Marty Cooper, who announced his retirement after 14 seasons in Fulton.
Both were outstanding players at THS. After THS, Joe played at Texas Tech and Jeff played at Miss. State.
