ETTA – Terry Kirk, 64, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 20, 2012. He was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Pinedale to Kennell "Budgy" Kirk and Maybellene Montgomery Kirk. He was first and foremost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and provider for his family who loved the Lord. He had a profound impact on the racing industry. He was a self-taught machinist who owned his own business at the time of his death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the United Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Louie Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. United Funeral Service in New Albany is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Tesa Kirk of Etta; a daughter, Terri Lynn Moore (Clint) of New Albany; two sons, Tommy Kirk (Sheila) of New Albany and Kenny Kirk (Michelle) of Etta; his mother, Maybellene Montgomery Kirk of Horn Lake; two sisters, Francine Jackson (Richard) of Nesbit and Michelle Jeffries (Russ) of Horn Lake; a brother Tony Kirk (Margie) of Ripley, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kennell "Budgy" Kirk.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Barnes, Mickey Eason, Mark Hinkle, Dustin Kirk, Christian Kirk, Clint Moore, Tommy Burnette and Robert Burnette. Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Barnes, Gregory Willard and Bobby Beaty.

Christine Hawkins
SMITHVILLE - Christine Watson Hawkins, 93, died on Monday, April 23, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on Jan. 3, 1919, in Guntown, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Lora Phillips Potts. She attended Guntown schools, leaving to help take care of her family after the death of her father. She married Willard Watson on Nov. 7, 1936. During World War II, she worked for Firestone in Memphis as a line worker making fuel bladders for bombers. Moving back to Amory in 1957, she worked as a seamstress for Wilson Manufacturing until retiring. She was Baptist. An independent and hardworking lady, she enjoyed working in her garden, shopping, quilting, listening to gospel Channel 39 as well as gospel and country music, and displaying and attending her quilts at the Amory Museum Quilt Shows. She always delighted in seeing her youngest great-grandson, Eli.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Burks officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Watson Hubert of Furrs and Judy Sims (Wayne) of Hatley; sons, Glen Watson of Verona and Ronald David Watson of Smithville; grandchildren, Teresa Berry, Brenda Sue Adams, Richard Lee Sprayberry, Ricky Lynn Watson, Timmy Joe Watson, Rodney Watson, Angie McCain, Dianne Justice, Tonia Montet and Gregory Allen Watson; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Barbara Sanderson, Bernice Wouldridge and Peggy Funderburk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Willard Watson and Tuelon Hawkins; grandson, Thomas Berry Jr.; sisters, Pansy Pauline Strickland, Mable Helen Thompson, Joyce Carlock, Tannis Hodgin and Ella Jenkins; and brothers, Bobby Gene and John Henry Potts.
Pallbearers will be Rodney, Tim and Ricky Watson, Joshua Hughes, Chad Watson and Richard Sprayberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Woody Brand, Dr. Julian Hill and Dr. John Seay.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church. She was a seamstress and a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Cole (Warren) of Walnut and Nelda Lynn Roberson (Donald) of Coffeeville; three sons, Dwight Barnes (Karen), Gary Barnes (Teresa), all of Walnut, and Deion Barnes (Donna) of Northport, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Sue McClain (Harold) of Corinth, Patti Lemoine of Sacramento, Calif., and Kay Sullins of Memphis; one stepson, Doug Hall of Ripley; 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond W. Barnes and William amp"Billamp" Hall; one daughter, Bobbie Dale Walker; one son, Danny Barnes; her parents; four stepdaughters; and one stepson.

MARIETTA - Clarence Thomas, 81, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was born Aug. 5, 1930, to Arlis and Luna Bell Johnson Thomas. He was a Methodist and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lou Della Greene Thomas; one daughter, Carol (Randy) Allen of Marietta; one son, Mark (Becky) Thomas of Marietta; five sisters, Evelyn Conwill of Baldwyn, Shirley (Tate) King and Ollie Thomas both of Ashland, Mattie Hurst of Walnut and Nancy Edwards of Ripley, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Baylee and Candice Allen, Seth (Karen) and Aaron Thomas; one great granddaughter, Ella Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruby Corbin; and two brothers, Clovis and Ralph Thomas.

EVERGREEN - Lurine McTune, 89, died Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Courtyards Community Living Center. She was born July 8, 1922, in Dorsey to Audie and Annie Bailey Sheffield. She was a Baptist and the oldest member of Evergreen Baptist Church at the time of her death. She attended Itawamba County Schools and was an Avon representative and garment plant worker. She loved Channel 39 ministers and others on Sunday mornings. She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and visiting with her family and friends, and she loved her dog, Penny.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Mike Yielding officiating. Burial will be in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Larry D. McTune (Betty) of the Evergreen community; one grandson, Mark McTune of Helena, Ala.; one granddaughter, Paula M. Jones (Wesley) of Tupelo; four great-grandsons, Ryan McTune, Jason McTune, Lincoln Jones and Ryder Jones; one brother, Milton Sheffield of Tupelo; and nieces, Brenda Gammil, Sherry McCarty and Kathy Fowler.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Jewel Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Cleave Hall, Perrin Snipes, Buddy Gray, Dale Cox, John Fowler and Jim McCarty.
