ABERDEEN - William Edward Savage, 7l, died Friday, June 1, 2012, in Leaksville. He was born March 17, 1941, in Monroe County, to Elton Houston Savage and Minnie Lou Winder Savage. He lived most of his life in Monroe County and had lived in Leaksville for the past 10 years. He was an oil field worker and was a Baptist.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel with Robert Earl Fowlkes officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ora Lee Fountain Savage of Leaksville; one son, Glen Edward Savage (Rhonda) of Hamilton; three stepdaughters; three sisters, Leta Mae Hill (Hugh) of Aberdeen, Louise Miller (Marshall) of West Point and Judy Gaskin of West Point; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Shiela Savage; one brother, Johnny Savage; and one grandson, Kevin Savage.
Pallbearers will be family.

OXFORD - Guy Thomas Ricker, 67, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at his home in Oxford. He was a retired driver for Gulf States Toyota. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. He was an active member of Taylor Methodist Church and was a Mason.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Taylor Methodist Church with the Rev. Annette Ford officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Ricker of Oxford; two daughters, Teresa Stanley of LaGrange, Texas and Susan Tovar of Houston, Texas; four sons, Butch Stanley of Oxford, Tim Ricker of Elizabethtown, Tenn., Greg Stanley of Magnolia, Texas and Heath Ricker of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Nancy Schulte of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Rusty Ricker of Johnson City, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Laverne Ricker.

BALDWYN - Simon "Buddy" Spight, 83, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Baldwyn Nursing Facility. He was born Oct. 4, 1928, to Shap and Hester Caldwell Spight in Pontotoc. In 1936, his family moved to the town that became his true love, Baldwyn. Spight was a veteran of the United States Navy and served 1948 through 1952. He was a 1948 graduate of Baldwyn High School. He worked at Caldwell Hospital as a lab technician and later transferred to the Baldwyn Hospital. He also worked as Chief Investigator of Lee County for many years. Spight was a member of the Sportsman's Quartet and was part of the first live program on WTWV television station in Tupelo. He was an honorary member of the 8th Airborne and the author of two books. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn where he served in many capacities and was a member of the choir for most of his life.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Baldwyn with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Billie Sue Spight of Madison; a nephew, Mike Spight of Kansas City, Kan.; a niece, Susan Mansour of Clarksdale; and his special friends and caretakers, Billy Roberson, Walter Gentry and Tammy Bullock, all of Baldwyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, WR Spight and Tommy Spight.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Jo Herndon Harwell Kitchens, 74, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at her residence in Memphis. She was born in Tupelo on April 25, 1938, to Walter Herbert and Mary Virginia Herndon Harwell. After graduation from Tupelo High School, she attended the University of Mississippi. She was a Methodist. She enjoyed cooking, shopping for antiques and playing bridge.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Tupelo Memorial Park with the Rev. Hershel Wiygul officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughter, Ginger Brown (Mark) of Cordova, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Matthew David and Courtney Paige Brown; and one brother, Walter Harwell Jr. (Mary Ann) of Port Orange, Fla.

PEARL - Larry Gene Walker Sr., 63, died on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born July 23, 1948, in Starkville, to Mary Z. Petty Walker and the late Burney James Walker. He worked at The Central Mississippi Correctional Facility-Rankin County. He was of Baptist faith. He married Donna P. Coleman Walker on July 31, 1970, in West Point.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery West Point.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. - Nana Lee "Nancy" Frost Watts died Friday, June 1, 2012. She was an educator, a raconteur, and servant of Christ. She was born April 25, 1916, in Baldwyn, to William Frost and Lula Parton Frost. She received her education from Grenada College and Mississippi Southern University. After graduation, she taught elementary school in Baldwyn and Tupelo before becoming a reading consultant for Scott Foresman Publishing Company, which allowed her to travel throughout the South.She married Chaplain John Espy Watts Jr. in 1952 and supported his service to the Navy, its sailors and families through his retirement and until his death in 2002. She was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church in Charleston, serving as deacon, circle leader, moderator of the Women of the Church and president of the Women of the Church of Charleston Atlantic Presbytery.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Second Presbyterian with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her nieces, Carolyn Moore of Tupelo, Betty Gayle Hailey of Meridian and Martha Sullivan of Nacogdoches, Texas; nephews, William Frost of Baldwyn, William Frost Roberts of St. Augustine, Fla., and Fred Sullivan of Woodville, Texas; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

OXFORD - Sylvia Lanan Tutor Plunk, 51, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at her home in Oxford. She was born in Pontotoc and was a 1978 graduate of Pontotoc High School. She was a nurse anesthetist at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Honorary Nurse Society, Mississippi Anesthetists Nursing Association and the American Anesthetists Nursing Association. She was dedicated to her career but spending time with her family took precedence and she had a special love for her family and her beloved dog. She loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed boating and traveling.
Service will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Brodie Foster officiating.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Jay Plunk of Oxford; her mother, Edith O.U. ETTA - Richard "Rick" Anthony Wells, 55, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. He was born June 4, 1956, in New Albany, to Gene Edward Wells and Bobbye Reaves Wells. He served his county as a member of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Bossier City Baptist Temple in Bossier City, La., where he served as a member of the church choir and drove a church bus.

He married Sandra Lucius on April 3, 1976. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. He retired from Lane Furniture and grounds maintenance at North Pontotoc Attendance Center. He was founding board member of Toxish Hunting Club and charter member of Beckham Fire Department. He was a wonderful husband, father, granddaddy and friend, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
