Stan Hughes was born August 23, 1954, in Detroit, Mich. the oldest son of Nadia Willis Hughes and the late Robert “Frosty” J. Hughes.
He was united in marriage to Robbie Leatherwood on April 13, 1979.
Mr. Huges owned and operated Hughes Garage for 33 years. He attended Corinth High School. He was an active member of the West Corinth Baptist church, where he taught the Howard Plaxico Sunday school class and was on the Finance and Nominating Committees. He was also a member of the following: Sons of Confederate Veterans, Sons of the Union Veterans, Rebel Volunteer Bowling League, and Tri-State Relic Hunter's Club. He was also the owner of Corinth Civil War Relics. He was an avid golfer, bowler, civil war relic hunter, bird hunter, and dirt-track racer. He drag raced Fords, coached Babe Ruth baseball, and loved working in his beautiful flower gardens.
Mr. Hughes departed this life on June 4, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family in Corinth, Miss. at the age of 57 Years, 9 Months, and 12 Days.
He is survived by his wife Robbie Hughes of Corinth, Miss.; two sons, Josh Hughes and wife, Lauren of Corinth, Miss., and Bo Hughes of Corinth, Miss.; a daughter, Sky Hughes of Corinth, Miss.; his mother, Nadia Willis Hughes of Corinth, Miss.; his mother-in-law, Syble Pearson of Corinth, Miss.; three brothers, Steve Hughes and wife, Angie of Guys, Tenn., Tim Hughes and wife, Debbie of Corinth, Miss., Mark Hughes and wife, Sandy of Corinth, Miss.; three brothers-in-law, John Leatherwood of Corinth, Miss., Keith Leatherwood and wife, Sun of Greensboro, N.C., Tim Pearson and wife, Lisa of Fayetteville,Tenn.; two grandsons, Cooper and Milo Hughes, both of Corinth, Miss.; nieces and nephews, Bre Arnold and husband, Matt of Memphis, Tenn., Anna Johnson and husband, Timmy of Corinth, Miss., Jacob Hughes of Corinth, Miss., Shandon Harris of Corinth, Miss, and Paisley Hughes of Corinth, Miss.; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert Leatherwood.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m. at West Corinth Baptist Church. Services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at 3 p.m. at West Corinth Baptist Church in Corinth, Miss. with Jackey Ward and Seth Kirkland officiating. HUMBOLDT, Tenn. - Arvis D. Stephenson, 90, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. Born on May 16, 1922, in Splunge, he was a son of the late Albert and Ivy Sullivan Stephenson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Jeff Horton, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Pearce Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

RIPLEY - Lexia M. Stovall, 87, died June 1, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Sept. 18, 1924, to the Rev. General B. and Della Foster Spight in Tippah County. She was a member of St. Matthew M.B. Church. She loved to sing and sang tenor in the Spight's Quartet.
She attended elementary and high school at Tippah County, but she received her high school diploma from Pearl High School in Nashville, Tenn. She earned her Bachelor's of Science in elementary education from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. She then taught history and French at Byhalia High School for a number of years. After retiring from education, she began a new career as a social worker for Tippah County Department of Human Services.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster amp& Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Gullap officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Foster amp& Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sisters, Ethelene Hatch of Ripley and Magnolia Freeman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three brothers, Deacon Paul Spight (Jo Ruth) of Battlecreek, Mich., Deacon William M. TUPELO - James Herschel Bracy, 55, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born March 16, 1957, to Harrison Scott Bracy and Beatrice Forbes Barr Bracy.

IUKA - Mildred Storment Curtis, 87, of Iuka, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Tishomingo Community Living Center. Curtis was born Sept. 21, 1924, to John B. Sr. and Myrtle Gravette Storment. She was a graduate of Iuka High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College, and she was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Mildred worked for the Vidette, the Mississippi Department of Human Services, J.P. Coleman State Park, and the Iuka Library. She was an avid reader and loved genealogy.

BALDWYN - Mary Jewell Estell, 98, died June 5, 2012, at Baldwyn Nursing Facility. She was born on April 17, 1914, the first child to E.C. and Lula Bruce Murdock in the Geeville community in Prentiss County. She was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
In the years following her retirement from Blue Bell Industries in Booneville, Jewell enjoyed time in her yard and garden. Until her health failed at age 90, she could be found tending her lilies, buttercups, or especially her African violets. Many times she revived an ailing violet back to full bloom. Known by her family for her blackberry cobbler, Jewell was happiest surrounded by her beloved family.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Waters Funeral Home with Dr. Chester Harrison, Bro. David Haynes and Mrs. Rhonda Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Lee County. Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her sisters, Mattie Chisholm of Waverly, Tenn., Bruce Furtick of Rienzi, and Billie Morgan (Harold) of Saltillo; one stepson, George Estell (Sandy); two step grandchildren, Will Estell (Amy) and Cynthia Estell Godwin (Robin); four step great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Willard Koon; her second husband, Earl Estell; her brothers, William and Martin Murdock; and her sister, Sara Nell Gentry.
Pallbearers will be Will Estell, Donnie Chisholm, Reggie Furtick, Kenny Gentry, Jimmy Gentry, Greg Morgan, and Ted Murdock.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
