He was born Jan. 20, 1954, in West Point to Robbie Pettit Busbin and the late Ishmel Busbin. He was a maintenance technician at AKZO Noble and a member of Allegiance RC motorcycle club.

TUNICA – Michael Witt Taylor, 57, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at his home after a long illness. He was born July 3, 1954, to Leman W. Taylor and Ouida Thomas.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Belden. He was employed by the City of Tupelo for many years.

He was born June 1, 1940, in Clay County in the Cairo community to Carrie Lee Blake Cartee and Walter Lee Cartee. He retired from the West Point Fire Department after 25 years. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He married Marjorie Lee Irby Cartee on May 29, 1970, in West Point.

FULTON – Billy Charles Archie, 66, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born Oct. 27, 1945, he was a son of Mary Frances Gray Archie and the late C.D. Archie. He married Mary Nell Reich in 1966. He was a member of the Bigbee Baptist Church. He established and worked at Archie’s Truck Body Works until his illness in 1997. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, riding his horse and buggy, spending time with this family and friends, going to church, and going to the mountains with the Senior Adults of Bigbee Baptist Church.

He lived in Greenwood the last eight years of his life. A certified mechanic, he worked for Cannon Motor Company and owned Rick’s Body Shop & Detail in Greenwood before his retirement. He was a Baptist. and a dedicated father and grandfather.

She began her career at ITT in Corinth and retired from Clairol. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Shannon. She was an avid cook and artist, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Box officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Don Illk of Saltillo; two daughters, Donna Illk (Kenneth Wooten) of West Point and Gail Norman of Plano, Texas; one son, Ronald Goggins (Becky) of Shelton, Conn.; three sisters, Mildred Gruber of Saltillo, Virginia Scruggs of Tupelo and Linda Faye Thompson of Shannon; four grandchildren, Christopher (Summer), Rachel, Ellen and Jesse; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Lillian and Henry; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Adrian (Pete) Hester.
Pallbearers will be Ellen Goggins, Jesse Ringness, Kenneth Wooten, Jimmy Hester, Dee Scruggs and Elliott Mincy. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Hester, Bobby Lipford, Christopher Hester and H.D. Scruggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of her favorite charities, the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society or ASPCA.
Visitation will continue today from 1 p.m. until service time.

BRUCE – Bennie Irene Brown, 84, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born April 11, 1928, in Calhoun County. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Glenn Slacks. She was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with the Rev. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (James) Weeks of Bruce; one son, Bobby Junior Brown of Bruce; two sisters, Helen Parker of Bruce and Lanita Murphree of Pittsboro; one brother, Lynn A. Casey of Vardaman; three grandchildren, Lisa Roane (Buck) Langford, Ginger Roane (Clint) dishman, and B.J. Brown, all of Bruce; six great-grandchildren, Jaslyn Langford, Mary Mason Langford, Conley Langford, Landry Dishman, Easton Dishman and Kason Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. “Junior” Brown; her parents, Ransom Bennett Casey and Mattie Irene Lafayette Casey; a grandson, Barry Brown; and a sister, Mary Wayne Howell.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Brown, Whitney Casey, Clint Dishman, Jeff Howell, Buck Langford, Richard Earl Murphree and Larry Dale Parker.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
