2 Lawndale Drive men charged with drug crimes

TUPELO – Two Tupelo men were arrested Thursday on drug charges that have been enhanced because the alleged crime was near a day care and weapons were on the scene.

According to the Tupelo Police Department and North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, law enforcement seized 5 grams (51 packs) of heroin with a street value of $2,000, 59 Xanax, several baggies of marijuana, one firearm and $860 in cash while executing a search warrant at 213 S. Lawndale Drive in Tupelo. The home is across the street from a day care.

Ray Charles Thompson, 25, also known as Ray Ray, and Jemarcus Thompson, 19, also known as Lil Boo, both were charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute. They both live at the Lawndale Drive home.

According to the narcotics unit, the arrest was the result of several months of investigating and based on tips from the public.
