An apartment fire at Westgate Apartments in Tupelo has been put out by firefighters, according to officials.

The fire was at Westgate Apartments on Westgate Drive in Tupelo, according to Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker.

The fire was reported at around 2 p.m. Friday. The fire is under investigation and no official cause has been released, but it appears to have started from an electric heating unit. There was smoke damage in the attic. The fire was contained in one unit.
