On Oct. 2, I was laid off from a job I had held for more than six years.
Although there was some level of politics involved, the reason given was because Obamacare was going to cost the company $160 million next year, and the company had to cut back. Because I worked very hard and took very few days off, I was blessed to have accumulated five weeks of vacation. This vacation has ended. I had hoped that the election would have turned the economy around, but instead the stock markets dropped immediately. I doubt my former employer will be spending any money that is not necessary. I am composing this letter while waiting to talk to someone in the WIN office about the bleak prospect of my becoming employed.
After that, I will be forced to sign up for unemployment for the first time in 20 years. If you are a working, taxpaying American who voted for Obama, congratulations.
I am now one of the millions of unemployed that you are responsible for creating and you will be responsible for supporting for the foreseeable future.
If you are a working, taxpaying American who voted for Romney, I truly appreciate your help, and I apologize for being a burden for you to bear. Please don’t blame me. I voted for Romney. I want to work.
