WAVELAND — Police say an abandoned car found in Waveland, Miss., is connected to a slaying this past weekend in New Orleans.

The blue 2007 Honda Accord was found Tuesday night in the coastal Mississippi town, about an hour's drive west of New Orleans.

Its license plate number matched that of a car belonging to 27-year-old Fernando Eyzaguirre, who was found shot to death Sunday morning.

Eyzaguirre's body was found in the parking lot of a strip mall in the Algiers section of New Orleans.

A New Orleans police detective went to Waveland and had the car towed back to the city.
