A similar bill was filed last year and died when a Senate committee chairman didn't bring it up for a vote.
The Republican governor spoke Thursday to pastors at a luncheon sponsored by Pro-Life Mississippi. He repeated what he has said many times before, that he wants abortion to end in Mississippi.
Friday is the deadline for the state's only abortion clinic to come into compliance with a 2012 law that Bryant signed. It would require anyone performing abortions at the clinic to be an OB-GYN with admitting privileges to a local hospital.
The clinic filed a federal lawsuit challenging the law, and was given time to try to comply.
