Gloria Fitzpatrick, 58, of Pontotoc, organized a group of more than 80 people who took the bus ride to the nation’s Capitol.
“When President Obama got up and spoke,” she said, “it was something we have waited for for four years.”
Halle Traylor, 9, of Tupelo was shorter than most in attendance but had no problem seeing everything, thanks to the wonder of technology.
“I got to see it on the Jumbotron,” Halle said. “It was very, very fun. It was really cold, but it was fun to see everybody.”
Tylon Ward, 16, of Fulton appreciated the chance to share such a unique experience with so many of his fellow Americans.
“It was just a great atmosphere to be in,” he said. “It was something new that I’m going to remember for a long time.”
