STARKVILLE – Tobias Smith can play one more season of college football if he wants to.

The Mississippi State offensive lineman has been granted a sixth year of

eligibility by the NCAA, the school confirmed on Friday.

Smith, who signed with State in 2008, has seen his career interrupted several times by injuries.

A team spokesman said Smith hasn’t yet decided if he’ll return.

Smith (6-foot-3, 305 pounds) missed all of the 2008 season with a broken ankle and took a redshirt, then was limited to three games the following year by a leg injury.

He played 12 games in 2010 but was limited to three in 2011 due to a knee injury.

This past season, Smith played in 10 games with nine starts, as MSU went 8-5 and lost to Northwestern in the Gator Bowl.

Smith has played in 28 career games with 13 starts.
