From the Biz Buzz blog ...

South, the new restaurant from Park Heights owners Blair and Hamp Hughes, will have its grand opening on Tuesday instead of today South

From what we heard from its soft opening this weekend, it looks like it’ll do just fine.

The restaurant will be open Monday-Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’s located where Shoney’s used to be. The building’s been completely renovated inside and out.

South features upscale Southern food, and from what we saw on the menu, it looks really good.

For appetizers, for example, there’s smoked Mississippi catfish dip, fried chicken skins, New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp, crawfish fritters and more.

On the entrée list are chicken pot pie, chopped steak, filet, ribeye, grilled red drum, pork roast, pork chops and more

There’s even ham bone soup!

On the “Selects” menu are goodies like shrimp and grits and blackened pompano.

And there are plenty of sides available, too.
