The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks say the eagle was discovered on the Nanih Waiya Wildlife Management Area near the Coy community in Neshoba County.
The eagle was shot sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 9.
X-rays performed on the eagle confirmed that the bird had multiple shot shell pellet wounds in its wings, leg and eye.
Authorities say the bald eagle had to be euthanized.
