The Bulldogs, 15-0 after a four-game sweep of Saint Joseph’s over the weekend, leap-frogged Arkansas and Louisville. MSU is off to its best start since 2006, when it began the season 18-0. It’s back in action Tuesday against Mississippi Valley State, then hosts Central Arkansas for a three-game series starting Friday.
A weekend sweep at Florida International off-sets a mid-week loss to Memphis, and Ole Miss rises one spot to No. 7. Ole Miss will return to action Tuesday with a 5 p.m. contest against Southeastern Louisiana at Swayze Field
North Carolina remained No. 1 this week, while Vanderbilt stayed at No. 2. Other SEC teams in the poll are South Carolina (6), LSU (8) and Kentucky (11).
Southern Miss was ranked No. 24 last week, but dropped out of polls after going 1-3 last week.
