The Rebels won the Tuesday game 2-0 to sweep two-game series. They’re back in action Friday at 6:30 for a three-game home series against Lipscomb, the final non-conference weekend series before SEC play begins at Arkansas March 15-17.
Catcher Stuart Turner went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Austin Anderson, Auston Bousfield and Will Allen also had two-hit games for the Rebels (13-1).
Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco was not pleased with his team’s performance.
“It looked like we were really locked in and had some great at-bats in the first, but after that, we didn’t do much,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said. “On the mound we just didn’t command the strike zone out of the bullpen like we have all year.”
Southeastern scored on a sacrifice fly in the fifth, ending a string of 13 scoreless innings in the series.
The Lions arrived hitting .269 and scoring 5.1 runs a game.
The Rebels sent 10 batters to the plate in the first and put up five runs on six hits.
Southeastern right-hander Kaleb Manuel lasted only a third of an inning.
The Rebels also hit reliever Jason Greenleaf, though he began to stabilize things. Before then plenty of damage was done as the first including run-scoring hits from Turner and Sikes Orvis and a Lions (8-4) error.
