According to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, there is a new mail scam where residents receive a card congratulating them on winning $100 from either Walmart or Target. When the resident calls the phone number on the card in order to activate it they are asked for banking information to pay an activation charge. This is a scam. The MCSO would like to remind residents to never give your banking information or any other personal information out over the phone.
