Clinton High sweeps Bulldog Invitational

STARKVILLE – The Clinton track teams made a clean sweep on Saturday in the Mississippi State Bulldog High School Invitational

at the Maddox Track.

The Clinton boys scored 94 points, followed by Peal (69), Tupelo (66) and Oxford (64). The Clinton girls (125) were followed by Southwind (106.5), Tupelo (93), Pearl (75.5) and Starkville (75).

One of the top races of the day was the girls 3200 meters, won by Starkville’s Kate Mattox, who also won the 1600. Mattox (11:32.71) and runner-up Christian Daniels of Tupelo (11:36.30) both lowered Daniels’ 3200 meet record of 11:50.39.

Daniels also finished second in the 800 (2:34.11), while Tupelo’s Callie Watson won the pole vault (9-6).

On the boys side, Andrew White of Tupelo finished second in the 1600 (4:49.96) and 3200 (10:30.81).
