Edith Brock

RIPLEY - Edith Elvetia Brock, 84, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at her residence in Ripley. She was born on Aug. 9, 1925, to Cecil and Estella Hopper Drewery. She was a member of Falkner Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Stanley Huddleston and Bro. Mark Jones officiating. Burial will be in Falkner Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Ouida Sweatman (Fagin) of Ripley; three sons, Gerald Brock (Linda Kay), Donald Brock and David Brock, all of Ripley; two sisters, Peggy Sue Glidwell of Burnsville and Shirley Jean Sexton of Memphis; 11 grandchildren, Teresa Alexander (Donnie), Belinda Luna (Joe), Glenn Sweatman, Nicky Brock (Tonya), Stanley Brock (Miranda), Brad Brock, Angie Stroupe, Amanda Wright (Eric), Brian Brock, Wesley Brock and Laken Brock; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brock; her parents; and one sister, Billie Ruth Gates.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Braxton Hester

TISHOMINGO - Braxton Hester, 87, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was a deacon and longtime member of South Crossroads Baptist Church. He was an U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as an airplane mechanic. He was a self-employed plumber and electrician, and retired from the Mississippi State Forestry Commission.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka with Bro. Mike Neighbors officiating. Burial will be in South Crossroads Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Jane Smith (Jerry) of Santa Claus, Ind., and Patsy Hester of Saltillo; one sister, Dorothy Hester of Iuka; six sisters-in-law, Janette Hester of Belton, Ky., Anna Belle Wilemon of Tishomingo, Bettie Sue Whitehead of Iuka, Linda Lambert (Wayne) of Jacinto, Barbara Borden of Booneville and Helen Borden Gasaway of Golden; two grandchildren, Julie Hesson (Michael) of Louisville, Ky., and Jeremy Smith (Sherri) of Las Vegas; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Samantha Hesson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Evelene Borden Hester, who preceded him by six months; his parents, Zeke and Etta Hester; an infant daughter; and his brother, Joe Hester.

Pallbearers will be Danny Gattis, Rick Dunn, Keith Lovelace, Jim Hester, Andy Crawford, Tim Fowler, Tim Ryan and Tommy Hester.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Cutshall Funeral Home.

Jeffrey Thompson

MYRTLE - Jeffrey Dale Thompson, 24, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in New Albany. He was born Jan. 8, 1986, in New Albany to Roger Dale Thompson and Donna Gail Thompson. He was employed by Mississippi Tennessee Railroad. He was a member of the Fredonia Baptist Church. His passions in life were the outdoors, friends and family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with the Rev. Joe Herndon and Rev. Mickey Estes officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica Herring Thompson of Myrtle; a daughter, Madison Brooke Thompson of Myrtle; his parents, Roger Dale Thompson and Donna Gail Thompson of New Albany; a sister, Jessica Renee Thompson of Myrtle; his grandparents Sara Carlyn Benefield and Bobbie Jean Thompson, both of New Albany, Nellie Harrington of Myrtle and Riley Jack Owens of Hickory Flat.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Dale Thompson.

Pallbearers will be Andy Thompson, Scottie Thompson, Joey Thompson, Keith Thompson, Derek Raney and Scottie Herring. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Doss, Jackie Herring, Brett Robbins, Jeremy Thompson, Chandler Smith, Dustin Neal, Brian Doss and Billy Jack Rogers.

Agnes Foster

HOLLY SPRINGS - Agnes Naylor Foster, 77, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the Dekalb Medical Center at Hillandale in Lithonia, Ga. She was a retired teacher for the Marshall County School District and a member of the NEA. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Holly Springs and a member of the church choir, the Administrative Council and the Trustee Board.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Doxey Auditorium on the campus of Rust College in Holly Springs. The Rev. Edward C. Moses will officiate. Burial will be in Cottrell Memorial Garden. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three children, Pamela Y. Garr of Lithonia, Ga., Wilfred Foster Jr. of Warner Robins, Ga., and Charles Foster of Lawrenceville, Ga.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Christine Stevens and Maggie Walker, both of Jackson, and Teresa Jeffries of Holly Springs; and one brother, Henry Naylor of Holly Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Foster Sr.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Asbury United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state at Doxey Auditorium from 2 to 2:55 p.m. Saturday.

Robert E. Robinson

PONTOTOC - Robert E. Robinson, 70, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Pontotoc after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 19, 1939, in Lee County to Walter Vernon Robinson and Julie Christine Hicks Robinson. He married Ellen Jane "Janie" Bradley in 1985 and they spent 20 years together before her death in 2005. He worked many years at Delta International before retiring. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Pontotoc.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Baldwin-Nowell Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Jody Rock officiating.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Weeden (Rodney) of Saltillo, Karen Swan (Dan) of Pontotoc and Penny Reeves (Curtis) of Amory; two sons, Bob Robinson (Pam) of Pontotoc and Adam Robinson (Abbi) of BeeBee, Ark.; three stepsons, Shannon McGregory (Jessica), Steve McGregory and Sam McGregory, all of Pontotoc; three sisters, Frances Chism (James) of Saltillo, Joann Robinson and Martha Robinson Harris, both of the Palmetto community; two brothers, Walter Robinson of Auburn community and Danny Robinson (Rita) of the Palmetto community; 13 grandchildren, one great- grandchild and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Dorothy McCollum.

Pallbearers will be Trixie Gibson, Jamie Fleming, Dominic Robinson, Bryant Gibson, Terry Harris, Adam Hunt, David Richey and Chris Franks.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday.

Butler B. Hall

WEST POINT - Butler B. Hall, 73, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at his home in West Point.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in West Point. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Lydell Snow

OKOLONA - Lydell Snow, 73, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church in the Egypt community. Burial will be in the Snow Family Cemetery. Carter's Mortuary Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Red Bud Missionary Baptist Church.

Jack Holt

CORINTH - Jack Ray Holt, 76, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Hominy, Okla. He attended Corinth High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College and played football at both. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, stationed at Governor's Island, N.Y. He was a lifelong resident of Corinth and served his community in many capacities. He was a Corinth City Alderman, Alcorn County Chancery Clerk, Mayor of the City of Corinth and Alcorn County Sheriff. He was the owner of Holt's Restaurant. In addition to his public service, he taught Sunday School at Tate Street Baptist Church for many years and coached YMCA football. He was a member of the American Legion, the Forty and Eight, and the Elks Club.

Services with military honors will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Corinth. Bro. Dennis Smith, Bro. Bill Wages and Joe McKewen will officiate. Burial will be in Henry Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Fleta Mae Farris Holt of Corinth; two sons, Kenny Ray Holt and Demmy Russell Holt and wife, Jackie, all of Corinth; two daughters, Jill Holt Mauney of Corinth, and Penny Holt Hinton and husband, Terry, of Collierville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Hinton, Holt Hinton, Jake Hinton, Hannah Holt and Sam Holt; a brother, Tommy Faye Holt of Tuscumbia, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Louise Holt of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three brothers-in-law, Jack Farris and wife, Bea, Eddie Farris and wife, Yvonne, and Boyd Owings, all of Corinth; five nieces, Judy Holt Smelser, Holly Wickland, Brenda Holt Bratton, Priscilla Junkin and Tammy Johnson; and five nephews, Pat McNair, Danny Crotts, Cliff Forsythe, Tim Forsythe and Chip Farris.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Henry Holt; his mother, Ruth Payne Holt Deese; one brother, Charles Henry Holt Jr.; one sister, Mignon Holt Vanderford; a son-in-law, Phil Mauney; his father-in-law, Alvis Farris; his mother-in-law, Leora Bowen Farris; three sisters-in-law, Netral Forsythe, Dora Lee Owings and Mable Holt; a nephew, Brad Owings.

Pallbearers will be Holt Hinton, Jake Hinton, Sam Holt, John Hopkins, Cullen Potts, Taft Little, Thurston Little, Johnny Ross, Edwin Coleman, Joe McKewen and Jimmy Bumpas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kurt Tuaer and Dr. Michael Peery.

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

PONTOTOC - Billy Wayne Crawley, 51, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after an automobile accident. He was an electrician, a plumber, a carpenter and a mechanic.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home Chapel of Pontotoc with Rev. Joey Swords officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Cemetery in Verona.

Survivors include his aunt and uncle, Johnny and Mae Owens of Aberdeen; his companion of 21 years, Kathy Marks of Pontotoc; his special friends, William and Jennifer Farrar and children, Chaise and Jackson Farrar, of Mooreville, Avis Burleson of Mooreville, Chop and Leslie Smith of Mooreville, Gerald and Pam Hand of Pontotoc, Kitty Newsum of Pontotoc, and Josh and Hannah Chunn of Toccopola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Ballard Crawley and Flora Lee Adams Crawley.

Dr. Rex Manasco

HAMILTON, Ala. - Dr. Rex A. Manasco, 45, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Marion Regional Medical Center in Hamilton, Ala. He was born May 2, 1965, in Sheffield, Ala. He was a graduate of Heritage University and Bethany Theological Seminary in Dothan, Ala. He was minister of Halltown United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Halltown United Methodist Church with W.G. Henry and Roger Burdge officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Carla Duren Manasco of Hamilton, Ala.; one son, Joshua Manasco (Beka) of Jacksonville, N.C.; his parents, Lloyd and Glenda Hester Manasco of Sheffield, Ala.; one sister, Kim Willingham of Madison, Ala.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Sarah Duren of Vina, Ala.; three nieces, Heather Willingham, Asia Duren and Iva Duren; one nephew, Blake Willingham; a brother-in-law, Keith Duren (Tanya) of Muscle Shoals, Ala.

RIPLEY - Rickey Wayne Moffitt, 54, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at his sister's home in Ripley. He was a chef at O'Neal's Restaurant and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Nylene Thomas Austin (Bill) of Ripley; two daughters, Amy Moffitt of Selmer, Tenn., and Tiffany Moffitt of Ripley; three sons, Robert Moffitt (Jasbleidick) of Paris Island, S.C., John Moffitt (Angie) of Blue Springs and Justin Moffitt (fiancampée, Katie) of Ripley; two grandchildren, Jabez and Josiah Moffitt; eight sisters, Nila Street (Larry), Shelia Balof (Robert), Debbie Stephens (Marty), Bobbie Childs (John H.), Beverly Akins (Ellis) and Dorothy Austin, all of Ripley, Brenda Hill (Charles) of Falkner and Vanessa Mason (Bill) of Blue Mountain; five brothers, Thomas Moffitt (Cindy), David Moffitt (Doris), Donald Austin (Rae Ann), Calvin Austin (Judy), all of Ripley, and Sammy Moffitt (Anissa) of Leavenworth, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brooks Eugene Moffitt, and one brother, Larry Moffitt.

Pallbearers will be Cody Moffitt, Scott Street, Billy Street, Michael Moffitt, Brian Moffitt, Stacy Hurt, John T. Jones, Brooks Hill, Tommy Mason, Ian Moffitt. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers and brothers-in-law, and Chris Hill.
