Longtime Itawamba Community College tennis and softball coach Linda Partlow, 60, died Wednesday morning in Birmingham following a lengthy illness.

The Plantersville native and 1967 Tupelo High School graduate taught mathematics at ICC. She was inducted into the school’s athletics hall of fame in 2007 after serving for 22 years as women’s tennis coach and eight years as softball coach.

“Linda Partlow was a model educator who loved teaching, coaching and people from every walk in life,” ICC president Dr. David C. Cole said in a statement.

Her ICC Lady Indians tennis teams won nine state championships and participated in 10 NJCAA national tournaments.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Holland-Harris Funeral Home in Tupelo. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.

Can't believe this. Ms. Partlow taught me College Algebra at ICC in 2007. She was a wonderful woman as well as instructor.

Wow! I am completely shocked! I had no idea that she was even sick in the first place. She was my algebra teacher while I was at ICC, and I can say without any doubt that she was the best instructor I have ever had in anything. I am so sad to hear this.

Rest in peace, Ms. Partlow.
