Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been hired as the new head football coach at Southern Miss, the Daily Oklahoman reports.

The Oklahoma City newspaper credits an anonymous source in reporting the news, saying that Monken will be introduced Tuesday as the new USM coach.

Monken joins former USM coaches Jeff Bower and Larry Fedora as men who served as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State prior to their arrival at USM.

Monken replaces recently fired USM head coach Ellis Johnson, who went 0-12 in his lone season in Hattiesburg.

Monken previously served as an assistant coach with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, LSU, Louisiana Tech and Eastern Michigan.
