Franks’ widow, Sharon Patrick Franks, was appointed to complete the five-year term that goes through 2017, pending approval by the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors for the jointly-appointed seat.
Arena board President Dr. Hardwick Kay thanked the city board for its prompt action on the appointment.
Responding to an alderman’s question, Kay said the arena’s new general manager, Tammy Genovese, began work Tuesday.
He noted that she was hired at a salary of $65,000 per year, not the $90,000 which was submitted to the tourism board as a budget request over his signature on Nov. 18, 2012.
