The Starkville Daily News reports that the board voted 5-1 this week to override the veto.
On Oct. 1, 2014, the mayor's salary will increase from $60,000 to $71,500. Aldermen will receive $15,000 per year — $3,000 more than now.
Wiseman had argued last month that salary raises for elected officials should be delayed until all other city salaries were addressed.
Wiseman said he wanted the salary issue for the board and the mayor addressed after Mississippi State University's John C. Stennis Institute of Government completes a survey of municipal salaries and makes recommendations.
