TUPELO – A duplex sustained damage in a fire late Wednesday night.

The Tupelo Fire Department responded to a call at 10:30 to a duplex on the 100 block of Milford Street, between Ida and Main streets. Assistant Fire Chief Jimmy Avery said the majority of the fire was put out by 10:50, with crews remaining on scene to take care of “hot spots.”

Avery said the duplex was not a total loss, but there was moderate fire and smoke damage.

There were no injuries; nobody was home when TFD responded to the call.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
